The property market in south-east Cornwall has not been affected by the credit crunch as have other parts of the South West. With the majority of prices never having been sky high in the first place people are attracted to the quality of the environment as well as value for money. Although Plymouth Airport and the M5 are less than a 20 minute drive away, the area is still relatively undiscovered.
The tranquillity of the rolling hills and the lapping sea make this an ideal area to own a property either for holiday or permanent living purposes. While tourism plays an important part in the village economy, many of the properties in the old part of Polperro, at the bottom of the hill, are now given over to accommodating visitors. The historical collection of ancient whitewashed fishermen's cottages, narrow streets and lanes aligning the steep, narrow valley running down to the sea, all add up to give Polperro its deserved accolade of one of the prettiest villages in Britain.
Grand houses occupying an elevated position above the village can fetch as much as £700,000 or more. An imposing and spacious detached family house in such a position is currently on the market for £1,600,000. Set in beautiful landscaped gardens, the house comprises of five bedrooms and numerous reception rooms with all principle rooms having stunning views of the harbour, sea and surrounding conservation land.
A selection of 2,3 and 4 bedroom new homes in nearby Talland Bay are on the market for between £270,000 and £350,000. Each property is of an extremely high standard. Timber and steel frame with high quality cedar cladding along with Sarnafil or natural slate roof. High specification quality kitchen with white goods are included as well as ceramic tiling with a choice of finish to suit individual taste. The property market in this area is well known for its high quality and demand. The combination of seafront location, breathtaking views and strong, local, property values will appeal to many UK buyers.
